SPACER DAMPER
The purpose of spacer dampers was initially to dampen oscillations in the bundle conductor subspan that could harm multi-conductor bundle systems. Later, it was shown that both wake-induced oscillation and aeolian vibration may be controlled by them. The spacer damper is intended to protect the bundle system's original shape from loads. Additionally, it must return the bundle to its original position after being subjected to heavy stresses caused by ice, wind, and short-circuit currents.
The VTPL Spacer Damper combines the functions of a damper and a spacer to maintain conductor separation and reduce aeolian vibration and oscillation, respectively. The conductor is tightly gripped by the viscoelastic bushings. To accommodate different bundle layouts and installation requirements, VTPL has developed spacer damper designs.
